Psychopathology permeates the air we breathe, our personalities, our childhoods, and the difficult periods of our lives. It protects us from pain as best it can, clings to life, and then often causes us profound suffering.

It is a complex subject — I do not deny that — because pathos means suffering. Yet I will try to share with you my fascination with and love for psychopathology, and perhaps through that your own sense of ease and mastery in working with it may emerge.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to cover the full diversity of forms that psychopathology can take. However, we will explore five phenomenological configurations that are among the most frequently encountered in therapeutic practice: borderline, narcissistic, depressive, anxious and psychotic phenomenologies.

The group is intended for practicing therapists who wish to deepen their understanding of psychopathology. The modules will include lectures, questions and discussion and case presentations and clinical discussions.

The program consists of six online three-day modules from September to July. On each topic we will talk about ontogenesis (i.e. hypotheses of emergence), about phenomenology (i.e. how this psychopathology is experienced from the inside and how this psychopathology manifests itself externally), about diagnostics (diagnosis by anamnesis, by observations and diagnostics at the border of contact) and about the methodology of work.
